How Black Holes Form
A black hole forms when a star with a huge amout of mass collapses and dies. The star dies when it loses energy. This energy is burning hydrogen, and gives off a lot of heat. The heat from the star moves outward, while the gravity from the outside pushes inward. When the hydrogen burns out, the gravity keeps pushing in and causes the star to collapse. This creates a black hole.
If a star with a lot of mass dies and collapses, a black hole will form. However, a star with little mass will not create a black hole when it dies.
